my whole process →
part 2 is exactly how i edit with claude.
every script lives in my notion video pipeline. it's a guide, i tweak lines live so it actually sounds like me.
prioritize natural light, shot in log, product's already out so there's no second shoot needed. plus a generic b roll folder to bump any video and make it more interesting.
1. @gling.ai cuts the talking, then exports straight into capcut, media still linked to the original
2. color grade, color correction, b roll and sound effects added
for more strenuous edits
1. a roll already cut (no ums) + one folder of matching b roll
2. then get super specific with your prompt
what step eats most of your time? tell me in the comments on my post ↓
people keep asking for my claude editing prompt. my real setup is a style guide claude and i built over a week of drafts, one note at a time.
send reference videos (your own edits, creators you love, top ads) and say exactly what you like about each. "i like the big emphasis word" beats "make it like this."
claude won't guess your style. tap each thing once you've written it down for yours.
these are my actual bans. what you don't want matters as much as what you do.
ask claude to save your rules as a skill it reads every time. then name your styles so you can just say "do this one in butter pop."
Be my video editor for TikTok and Instagram (9:16). I'll do the cuts myself. Your job is to add captions, on-screen text, music, sound effects and a little B-roll on top. Don't re-cut or re-time my edit. I attached: - My finished cut: [file] - Reference videos I want you to copy the look of: [files or links]. What I like about them: [e.g. the pop-in text, the caption color, the swipe sounds on cuts] My style: - Captions: [one word at a time / full lines], [font], [color], in the lower third where the app buttons don't cover them - Emphasis words: [bigger, different color, how often] - Music: royalty-free only, you pick it based on the vibe, quiet under my voice - Sound effects: [soft whooshes on cuts, pops on text, etc.] - Colors I like: [...]. Colors I don't: [...] Never use: [e.g. flash transitions, dark moody grades, zooms] Before you send it, check still frames of the hook, every B-roll insert and the ending. Then tell me what you added and why, so I can give you notes.
attach your cut and a reference or two, then fill in the blue parts.
--- name: my-ugc-edit description: Edit my finished-cut talking-head videos (TikTok/IG, 9:16) in one of my named styles. Use when I hand over a video and ask for an edit. --- # My UGC edits I cut my videos myself. You add captions, on-screen text, music, sound effects and a little B-roll on top. Never re-cut or re-time my edit. ## My styles Use the one I name. If I don't say, use [default style name]. - **[Style 1]**: [e.g. clean and minimal: one-word captions, occasional big emphasis words, soft whooshes] - **[Style 2]**: [e.g. bright and playful: pop-in text with bounce, stickers, pop sounds] ## Never - [e.g. flash or light-leak transitions, dark moody grades, italic captions] - [colors you don't like] ## Captions - One word at a time. Never two words on screen at once, never stacked. - Lower third, clear of the app buttons and the description area. - Font: [font], size [size], color [color]. Emphasis words: [style], about one every 2-3 seconds, never on filler words. - Follow what I actually said, not the script. Tell me where they differ. - Spell brand names exactly as the brand does. ## Music - Royalty-free only. Skip AI-generated tracks and anything registered for copyright claims. No vocals under my voice. - You pick the track from the brand or video vibe. - Level: about [17] dB under my voice, ducked when I talk. ## Sound effects - [e.g. soft whoosh on 2-4 key cuts, pop when text appears]. Always quieter than my voice. ## B-roll - 2-4 short clips, only where I'm talking about what the clip shows. My clips live in [folder]. - Never cover the product close-ups or the call to action. - When shots play back to back, cut on my movement so it reads as one motion. ## Reference videos When I send a reference, copy its structure: what the hook is made of, how long shots hold, the cut rhythm and when my face first appears. If you can't watch it, ask me before editing. ## Brand deals Read the brief first. Carry exact brand names, required hooks and CTAs, and banned claims into the on-screen text. If my style clashes with the brief, ask me before rendering. ## Before sending - Check still frames of the hook, every B-roll insert and the ending. - Check that no text runs off the edges and captions are readable. - Final loudness around -15 LUFS. - Tell me what you added, what you skipped and why. ## My notes log - [what I said] → [the rule it became]
